FOOD, FUN, FAMILY IS WHAT WE ENJOYED IN BORKENES

HALO EVERYONE
We are now here in Oslo and just walked around the city a bit and will relax in the hotel room tonight and catch the soccer game on TV. Too many late nights in the land of the midnight sun left us all very tired and in need of a bit of down time. We had an AWESOME time above the artic circle with relatives in the Lofoten Island area. The first night we got there we rode bikes along the fjord and ended up at a little bay beach area, where we had a BBque along the shore of the Kvaefjord with the Fagerli family. Surprised were we, when through the trees came Mildred's 3 brothers and families as well as, some of cousin Magnes family. Grilled pork and lamp chops, hotdogs, salad, roasted marshmellows, relishes, rubarb cake, beer coffee, tea and aquavit...was enjoyed by all.
Graham and the little kids played some rugby on a very bumpy field and then we biked back at 11 pm or so since the clouds would not allow viewing of the midnight sun. The next day we went hiking up to the top of Tippa Top mountain where I saw the reindeer last year. None in sight this year, but much more snow which made for very different and beautiful sights. We stopped by the hytter for a rest and then back home for a delicious dinner of sea trout and veggies, salad and ice cream with fresh blueberry and cloud berry compote. Talked some more, Graham serenaded us with the guitar while we waited to see if we could see the midnight sun, but again more clouds. Bed at 2am.
Sunday we got up and went out to see the Sorli farm , sheep and then a hike up to MAgnes hyter and another visit around the fire and roasted hotdogs, spice cakes, candy...Back home and out of the windy and cooler weather for some delicious pork and veggie stew with flatbread. We then went up to Liv Erin and Eirik house for her 40th Birthday cakes. We had 8 cakes to sample and savor made by Liv and sister Hanne Marit... Chocolate, prune and coconut, lemon cheescake, ligonberry mazipan, fudge brownies, chocolate nut, blueberry, almond krunsacake. They were delicious and we all left with belly aches. That night we went to bed early as we knew there would be no midnight sun as it was cloudy all day.
Today we got up for another lovely norweigan frokost of veggies, bread, cheese, fruit compotes... and then we bid our farewells to the Fagerli family. Johan kindly took us to Narvik to fly to Oslo and that is where we are tonight. Tomorrow we will take the train to Fredrikstad to see my friend Bjorg and hopefully Cj's cousin Torunn as well.
Wednesday we will take the train back to Orebro, pack Graham's stuff up and Friday morning head to Stockholm for Midsummer celebrations and hopefully a visit to one of the archipelagos islands before flying back to MN on Monday morning.
Hope all is well with everyone and things are drying up some in the midwest of the USA
